World Letter Writing Day Celebration 2026

The Department of English, in collaboration with the Literary Club, marked World Letter Writing Day with a celebration centred around the theme, “From Ink to Algorithm: The Changing Architecture of Human Communication”.

Mrs Otoli V. Yeptho, the Guest Speaker, emphasised the significance of writing in enhancing cognitive, literary and linguistic skills. She further highlighted the tangible nature of letter writing as a means of preserving memories, emotions and historical accounts. In the face of the growing influence of artificial intelligence, she encouraged the gathering to revitalise and preserve the increasingly imperilled art of writing.

The programme concluded successfully with a meaningful activity that invited students to put pen to paper and compose letters of their own. This activity symbolically transported them from the contemporary digital world to the increasingly forgotten art of handwritten communication, thereby bringing the essence of the programme’s theme to life.
