LIVINGSTONE FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE (LFIC) ORGANIZES TWO-DAY NATIONAL SEMINAR

Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) organized a two-day National Seminar on ‘Integrating Skill Development Programme in Higher Education’ on 10th and 11th February 2022. The seminar, which was conducted at the LFI Auditorium, was sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), NERC Shillong. The seminar was coordinated on a blended mode allowing participants to join through both offline and online modes. The inaugural and valedictory programmes were graced by Prof. Aleminla Ao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University and Mr. Sashi Wapang Lanu, IRS, Additional Commissioner, Central GST, Dimapur as the Guests of Honour respectively. The Chief Patron of the event was Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, the Chairman of Livingstone Foundation International.

Eminent dignitaries from the academic field, social and public sectors were theme speakers including Prof. Buno Liegise from Department of Education, Nagaland University; Dr. Rokolhuii Keditsu, Assoc. Professor, Department of Horticulture, Nagaland University; Mr. Chiden Yaden, Director, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; and Mrs. Rozelle Mero, social entrepreneur and MD, The People Channel, Nagaland. The Keynote Address at the seminar was delivered by Honorary Director, ICSSR, NERC, Shillong, Prof. B. Panda. Altogether, 11 research scholars representing university of Delhi, Central University of Kashmir, Pondicherry University and Nagaland University presented their papers. The seminar was attended by around 70 participants comprising of faculties and research scholars from different colleges and universities within and outside the state.

The primary objectives of the seminar are development of awareness for the importance of skill based education programs in higher education, awareness on the multidisciplinary approach to higher education, awareness on the various schemes and initiatives taken by the National Skill Development Corporation in India to impart skills to the young individuals and awareness on the issues and challenges in implementations of skill development programs in higher education.
