CONSTITUTION DAY OBSERVED AT LIVINGSTONE FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE

The Constitution Day was observed at Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) on 26th November 2021 with a special programme to mark the significance of the day. The programme was graced by Mrs. Elmie K. Rengma, Asst. Professor & Research Scholar, ICFAI University, Nagaland as the Resource Person.

The primary reason behind conducting the programme was to promote the values of the constitution among the youth of the country and also to pay a befitting tribute to the legacy of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, who had a prominent role to play in drafting the Constitution of India which outlines the rights and laws concerning the Indian Citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, the resource person highlighted the significance of the Constitution Day. She began by giving a brief introduction on the meaning and significance of the Indian Constitution. She mentioned why it has become so important for Indians to celebrate the Constitution Day, especially at this juncture because it is through it that we learn and understand our rights and liberties as citizens. She concluded her discourse by highlighting that the constitution is the map of a country’s citizens, government machineries and institutions which enshrines their powers and jurisdictions.

The programme was chaired by Ms. Izakali Zhimomi from Political Science Department. The welcome address was delivered by Mrs. L Achilo Kikon, HoD Dept. of Political Science. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Etoi H. Chishi from Political Science Department. The programme concluded with the reading of the Preamble of the Constitution by everyone present followed by closing prayer from Ms. Tsurila Yimchunger, Political Science Department.
