As part of the International Award for Young People (IAYP) Silver Award programme, our Silver Award students embarked on a three-day Adventurous Journey from 9th to 11th October 2026.
From camping under the open sky to conquering mountain trails, the journey provided valuable opportunities for students to develop independence, teamwork, leadership, and resilience through hands-on outdoor experiences.
The students participated in tent pitching, meal preparation, village walks, route navigation, and environmental studies in Jakhama and Viswema villages before taking on the exciting challenge of trekking to Mount Teyozwü.
The trek was filled with challenging trails, laughter, friendship, and unforgettable moments in nature. As the students made their way towards the summit, they encouraged one another, overcame physical challenges, and experienced the joy of achieving a common goal. Reaching the summit was a rewarding moment, offering them a sense of accomplishment and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of the surrounding mountains and landscapes.
Beyond the climb, the journey allowed students to learn directly from nature, observe their surroundings, and understand the importance of environmental conservation. Every step taught them valuable lessons in patience, perseverance, self-reliance, and the strength of working together.
The village experience also offered students an opportunity to explore local life, observe traditional practices, and appreciate the culture and simplicity of village communities. These experiences encouraged them to connect with their surroundings, learn beyond the classroom, and develop a greater appreciation for the people and environment around them.
More than just a trek, this Adventurous Journey was an experience of growth, discovery, friendship, and learning beyond the classroom. It encouraged our students to step outside their comfort zones, embrace challenges, and create lasting memories while developing essential life skills.
Exploring new heights, building lasting friendships, and discovering that some of life’s best lessons are learned in the heart of nature.
