World War-II Peace Rally During Hornbill Festival 2018

All together 10 students and 2 Mentors of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School accompanied the Chairman, Dr. Andrew Ahoto to participate in one of the most exciting events of the world famous Hornbill Festival, the World War-II Peace Rally which was organized to commemorate the WW-II Battle of Kohima by the Nagaland Adventure and Motor Sports Association (NAMSA) on the 6th of December 2018. The World War II Peace Rally is organized every year by NAMSA as part of the Hornbill festival to make the festival more eventful as well as to promote peace in a befitting manner. The male team from LFHSS with Jeep No.2 led by Dr. Andrew Ahoto won the Most Original Vehicle which happens to be the most prestigious award which consisted of a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1,50,000/- while the female team astride Jeep No.5 won the Best Ladies Squad Award with a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 30,000/-. Altogether 12 Jeep vehicles with four participants from each Jeep participated at the WW II Peace Rally.
The Stonites team led by the Chairman, Dr. Andrew Ahoto included mentors, Mr. Norbert Achung and Mr. Tirus Mongzar along with the students, Master Anoka William, Master Aaron Akivito, Master Vikaito Yepthomi, Mr. Saku, Mr. Talimahyang, Mr. Tovi, Ms. Awie, Ms. Vipeni, Ms. Veni and Ms. Zachelo.
The flagging off ceremony of this year’s WW-II Peace Rally was held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima and was graced by Shri Neiphiu Rio, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Nagaland as the special invitee. While speaking on the occasion, he said that the main objective of WW II peace rally is to promote peace in the region and to convey to the people of other regions that we love peace and tranquility in our land. He also said that the WW II peace rally held as an annual event coinciding with the Hornbill festival every year recalls the 2nd world war, which we all knew that it was the most ferocious battle which took place in our land. Advisor NAMSA & Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Mr. Abu Metha while delivering the opening remarks thanked all the participants who have come from different parts of the state and different regions of the country.
Mr. Theja Meru was the master of ceremony at the prize distribution ceremony. Band display was performed by Assam Rifles while the parade commander, Moa Longkumer gave the Battle report. Vote of thanks was proposed by member NAMSA, Mr. Kuputo Shohe.
