A mentor from Livingstone Foundation International, Mr. Debu Sarkar, attended a 5 day Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Equitable and Inclusive Education for Teachers (Phase-1) under National Initiative for School Heads’ and Teachers’ Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) from 19th<\/sup> to 23rd<\/sup> February 2024. The programme was held at the North East Regional Institute of Education (NERIE), Umiam, Meghalaya and was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi. This significant event witnessed an active participation from 93 Heads and School Teachers representing educational institutions from across the North East India region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five-day program aimed at deepening the understanding of inclusive education strategies, ensuring equitable opportunities for all learners. The comprehensive agenda covered various facets, including the implementation of inclusive policies, creating accessible learning environments, and addressing diverse needs within educational settings. Throughout the program, eminent speakers and educators shared valuable insights into inclusive teaching methodologies, adaptive technologies, and the significance of accommodating different learning styles. Workshops and interactive sessions provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas and share best practices, fostering a collaborative approach to inclusive education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Rehabilitation Council of India added considerable depth to the program. Participants had the opportunity to gain insights into government initiatives and policies, as well as the latest developments in rehabilitation practices. The presence of 93 Heads and School Teachers from the entire North East region enhanced the diversity of perspectives and experiences shared during the program. Networking with fellow educators allowed for a rich exchange of ideas, creating a valuable professional community committed to promoting inclusive education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, the NISHTHA program was a resounding success, equipping participants with knowledge and tools to contribute effectively to the implementation of equitable and inclusive education practices. I express my gratitude to the organizers, collaborators, and fellow participants for making this program a transformative and enriching experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
