{"id":373,"date":"2019-12-27T14:15:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-27T08:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/livingstonenagaland.com\/school\/?p=373"},"modified":"2021-07-25T17:59:02","modified_gmt":"2021-07-25T12:29:02","slug":"national-childrens-science-congress-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/livingstonenagaland.com\/school\/2019\/12\/27\/national-childrens-science-congress-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"National Children\u2019s Science Congress 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mr. Rumen Pongener, a Grade-XII Science student from Livingstone Foundation International participated in the 27th National Children\u2019s Science Congress is hosted by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Government of Kerala from 27th to 31st December 2019 at Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar, Nalanchira, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala in association with Mar Ivanios College and Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology. The focal theme for the event was \u201cScience, Technology and Innovation for a Clean, Green and Healthy Nation\u201d. The event was graced by Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Hon\u2019ble Vice President of India as the Chief Guest.<br>Mr. Rumen Pongener participated along with 8 other students from Nagaland and was part of 600 students from all over India who were certified as Child Scientists during the 27<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;NCSC 2019. The students including Mr. Rumen participated in various projects under the following sub themes :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ecosystem and Ecosystem Services<\/li><li>Health, Hygiene and Sanitation<\/li><li>Waste to Wealth<\/li><li>Society, Culture and Livelihoods<\/li><li>Traditional Knowledge Systems (TKS)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Children\u2019s Science Congress is a \ufb02agship programme of National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science &amp; Technology (DST), Government of India. It is an inclusive programme open to children of the age group from 10-17 years covering all background either school going or out of school system, belonging to geographic, language and cultural regimes across the country and open to all children including children with disabilities. The prestigious national academic event is held every year during 27th to 31st December. It is a platform for children to carry out small research activities at micro-level. The various highlights of the 27<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;NCSC included Technical Sessions, Teachers\u2019 Workshops, Activity Corners, Science Exhibition, Meet the Scientist Programme and Cultural Evening.<br>The NCSC encourages a sense of discovery and\/or innovativeness in addition to learning application of methods of science. It emboldens the children to question many aspects of progress and development around and can also express their \ufb01ndings in their own choice of language.
