Livingstone Foundation International became one of the few schools in Nagaland to collaborate with the Central Government\u2019s CSIR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research)-JIGYASA Program. A team of experts and officials from CSIR-NEIST (North East Institute of Science and Technology), Jorhat, Assam visited the school on 17th<\/sup> March 2022, during which they had a formal interaction with the students, faculty members and the School Management led by the Chairman, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema. It is worth mentioning that CSIR-NEIST was previously known by the name of Regional Research Laboratory (RRL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the interactive session with the students, Mr. Anshuman Goswami from Team Jigyasa explained the various aspects of the program whereby the students would be aided in communicating with Scientists from across the country through online platforms. He also mentioned that the primary objective of the program was to create a scientific temperament among the student community of India, especially the North-Eastern Students. At present, the CSIR has 32 Branch Labs across the country where the students can carry out various experiments. JIGYASA is one of the major initiatives taken up by CSIR at the national level, during its Platinum Jubilee Celebration Year. CSIR is widening and deepening its scientific social responsibility (SSR) further with the programme. On the one hand, this programme would explain the culture of curiousness and scientific nurture of the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CSIR works at the national level for further widening and deepening its scientific social responsibility (SSR) through the JIGYASA programme. The CSIR JIGYASA programme is a unique platform for bringing Scientists and teachers for nurturing young minds. This program envisages opening up the national scientific facilities to school students, enabling CSIR Scientific knowledgebase and facility to be utilized by school-student. This model of engaging school students also has been extended to other schools in addition to KVS. The JIGYASA programme envisages some of the following models of engagement: Laboratory Visit, Popular lecture series, Summer vacation programmes, Scientist as teachers and teachers as scientists, Teacher\u2019s Workshop, Student Residential Programme, Visit of students to schools, Lab specific activities\/ Onsite experiments and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, the team from CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat presented some lab equipments to the Chairman of LFI as a token of love and appreciation from CSIR. The team was also felicitated by the Chairman with tokens of gratitude and appreciation. The team included Mr. Nandan Kumar, Research Associate, CSIR-NEIST, Mr. Anshuman Goswami, Team JIGYASA, Mr. Himangshu Lekhak, Senior Technical Officer, CSIR-NEIST and Mr. Ravi Kumar Sahu, Technical Assistant, CSIR-NEIST.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
