COMMUNITY SERVICE TOWARDS TRAFFIC PERSONNEL 2017
Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School took up an enriching Community Service Programme of showing gratitude towards the Traffic Police Personnel of Dimapur City Area on 20th May 2017. The programme was initiated under the leadership and guidance of Director Junior High, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi and assisted by the NCC department of the school. All together 16 students from Junior High and 4 Cadets of NCC took part in this novel venture. The students were accompanied by 5 teachers which included 2 ANOs of NCC.
As a part of this Community Service initiative, Traffic Personnel manning various Traffic points and Police Assistance Booths were provided with hampers containing water bottles, juice, fruits, towels along with snack boxes as a token of respect and gratitude for their untiring and dedicated service for the society at large. About 15 Traffic Points and 5 Traffic Police Assistance Booths and other mobile units were covered during the Community Service done by the Stonites. The students also had the opportunity to make a personal insight into the daily and rigorous lives of the Traffic Police Personnel and how they perform their duties under stressful conditions.
Later, the team of students and teachers met the Officer In-Charge of Dimapur Traffic Police Zone-I, DSP Mr. L. Mhathung Patton who interacted with the students and answered several of their queries. Answering their questions, Mr. Mhathung Patton replied that since the day he was appointed as a Police Officer he decided to serve the Community with dedication. He also advised the students to obey the Traffic Rules and Regulations and also to wear helmets and seat belts whenever necessary. On a lighter note, the officer said that due to the pressure of work he could spend time with his family only during Sundays when he takes them for outings. But he was positive that despite all the hardships of his job, at the end of the day he enjoyed his profession. Speaking about the present Traffic conditions of Dimapur, he was optimistic that many changes have taken place since he and his team of able Traffic Police Personnel has taken over. Finally, he encouraged the students to join the Traffic Police Department to serve the society. He also advised them to enjoy any assignment and to be sincere and dedicated in whatever job one works in. He also lauded the efforts of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School for reaching out to the Traffic Police Personnel and proposed to work out a plan to engage students for a field experience and training in Traffic Management to encourage them and make them skilled professionals later on in life. The students also presented Mr. L. Mhathung Patton with a token of gratitude on behalf of LFHSS.
