PLANET HARMONY 2017
Two students from Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School viz. Miss Grace Wonchi Yanthan of Grade-XII Arts (Previous Batch) and Miss Rumila Phungshok of Grade-XII Commerce (Present Batch) participated in a special National Level Educational and Integration Camp held at New Delhi and Shivpuri Village, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand from 29th May to 7th June 2017. The Camp was organized by Planet Harmony, a Delhi based social organization, for students of various schools and colleges from different states of India including some states from the North East. The main idea behind the Camp was to bring together students from various parts of India and to expose them to the diverse culture of different states and especially to bring the North Eastern region closer to the main stream. As such the motto behind the Camp is ‘From Conflict to Harmony’. Around 48 students and teachers from all over India attended this unique Camp which offered not only educational exposure for the students but also gave them an opportunity to take part in various adventurous sports and social projects.
The main event started from 31st May 2017. The students from Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi earlier on 29th May 2017 along with students from other students representing the North East. The students were made to stay with local families from Delhi for 1 day and 1 night i.e. 29th May and 30th May 2017 to familiarize themselves with the living habits and culture of the localites of Delhi. On the 31st May 2017, the first day of Camp, the students boarded a train from Dwarka in Delhi to Rishikesh in Haridwar from where they took a bus to Camp Panther in Haridwar. The camp was named Camp Panther which was sponsored by a local Adventure Sports Club named Snow Leopard.
The main activities conducted at the Camp included:
1. Rapid Rafting on 31st May 2017 at 3:20 PM
2. Game of ‘Treasure Hunting’ on 1st June 2017
3. Rock Climbing and Swimming on 1st June 2017
4. Problem Solving and Tower Building Competition on 1st June 2017
5. Trekking in the morning of 2nd June 2017 from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM
6. Group Activity entitled ‘Crossing the Acid Sea’ on 2nd June 2017
7. Communicative Session on 2nd June 2017 evening
8. Visit to the Banks of the Ganges on 3rd June 2017 morning
9. Zip Line Activity on 3rd June 2017
10. Cleanliness Drive in the morning of 4th June 2017
11. Presentation of Projects to be undertaken in own locality on 4th June 2017
12. Group Activity at the pool on 4th June 2017
13. Cultural Night in the evening of 4th June 2017
14. Raft building activity on 5th June 2017
The students came back to Delhi on 5th June 2017. On 6th June 2017 the team visited Indigo Office where they interacted with Mr. Aditya Ghosh, President of Indigo Airlines and on the same day at 5:00 PM they met the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Dr. Hamid Ansari. The Camp finally came to an end on the same day with the Project
Presentation which was held at Planet Harmony head-quarters in New Delhi. On 7th June 2017 the students returned to Nagaland via Kolkata.
