NATIONAL ROLL BALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2017

The Roll Ball team from Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School represented Nagaland State in the 9th Mini National Roll Ball Championship 2017 at Guwahati, Bhogeswati Phukanini Indoor Stadium, Rudra Singha Sports Complex – Dispur – Guwahati.

On the 26th July the team left for Guwahati at 9:45p.m. by B.G. Express and reached on the 27th Morning at 3:30a.m. at the B.P. Indoor Stadium.
The team consisted by Master Aaron Akivito Yepthomi as team captain, Master John Snock, Master Rekusuiheing, Master Milan Garhwal, Master Ravineizo Rio, Master Jared A. Awomi, Master Ekasashi Lkr., Master Repanungba and Master Akusakivi S. Yepthomi, Master Madhab Nayak was the coach and Manager.

On the 27th morning the children has practice at the outdoor stadium, followed by lunch and an outing to the Zoological and Botanical Garden. Where there were may different wild life  and reptiles. The children also had a ride in an electric car which was a new experience for them. After we came back from the zoo we had a rest and in the later part of the evening we had practice again.

The programme on the 28th was as follows we had the inauguration ceremony of the Roll Ball games where the chief guest was the Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Sarbananda Sonowal who welcomed at the 24 states of India, who had come from far and near to take part in the championship 2017.  He also emphasized on fair play and good sportsmanship. The 9th Mini National Roll Ball Championship 2017 was declared open and the tournament was started.
The first match the Nagaland played was with Madhya Pradesh. The score was 2-1 in favour of Madhya Pradesh. The second match was played on the 28th evening with Harayana and the match was drawn at 2-2.
On the 29th the matches continued and we played with Karnataka. The score was 8-0 in favour of Nagaland. Akusaku scored 7 goals and Milan scored 1 goal. However a second match was played in a matter of 15 minutes. Infact the children had already left for their room and were recalled to play with Tamil Nadu, who was a fresh team. I had requested the officials to give us some more time, but they declined. We played with Tamil Nadu.
On the 30th the finals were held between Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Rajasthan were the victors with a score 3-2. Therefore the overall results are as follows – Winner Rajasthan 1st runnersup Uttar Pradesh and 2nd runners up was Tamil Nadu.

After the finals were played there was a closing ceremony where the chief guest was Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma the Minsiter of Finance Planning and Development, Health and Family Welfare. The applauded Nagaland for their wonderful and courages performs and award Nagaland the best up-coming team of 2017. It was  a very proud moment for all of us from Nagaland Finally the 9th Mini National Roll Ball Championship came to a close with a lot of pomp and show.

On the 31st the children got up early and packed their things and got ready to leave. However out Chairman Mr. Andrew Ahoto and Mam Ani Yepthomi invited us for lunch. The gave us a gala lunch and sent us on our way to catch the B.G. Express to Dimapur at 2:15p.m. We arrived at Dimapur at 8:30p.m. and the children were handed over to their respective parents.

The parents were very proud of their children and the school, who had taken such a step to expose the children to suan an event.
