NCC Annual Training Camp
A one of a kind and the best ever NCC Annual Training Camp (ATC) was held at Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School for the Cadets of 4 Colleges and 16 Schools under the 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, Kohima, Nagaland. The 10-day camp was conducted from 20th to 29th July 2018. A total of 376 Male Cadets from both Senior Division as well as Junior Division attended the camp. The Camp was led by Lt. Col. Vivek Shukla, Commanding Officer of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, Kohima as the Camp Commandant. All together 10 ANOs, 8 PI Staff Members and 10 Civil Staff Members were deputed for the said camp. 12 Cadets from LFHSS led by their ANO, T.O. Shiva Baidya also participated in the said camp.
The Camp started on 20th July 2018 with the arrival and sensitization of the cadets and the ANOs at the venue area. The cadets were divided into 4 companies, viz. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta and accommodated at four separate dormitories of LFHSS Hostel. The ANOs, PI Staff along with some of the Civil Staff were accommodated at the Gabriel Dormitory while the Nazareth, Eden, Rachel and Bethany dormitories were utilized for the accommodation of the Cadets.
This year, the Camp was made even more endearing because of the show of professionalism and dedication on the part of the Rank & File of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, Kohima led by Lt. Col. Vivek Shukla, who left no stones unturned to make the said camp one of the best and most successful camps ever organized at LFHSS. The aspects which really made this year’s camp stand out were the Arms Display and Band Display by 32 Assam Rifles, career motivation speech by Col. S. Malik, Director, Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Rescue and Fire Management Display by Personnel of National Disaster and Rescue Force (NDRF), Tent Pitching Competition, Drill Competition, Trekking Expedition to X Trail Rangapahar, visit to Army Aviation Base, Lecture on Health & Hygiene and Firing Competition. The above activities were never experienced by the NCC Cadets in all the previous camps. Earlier on 21st July 2018, Day-2 of the camp, Brigadier S.S. Dhankar, Group Commander of NCC Kohima Group (Nagaland) made a special appearance and delivered an encouraging speech to the cadets and officers present.
Apart from the above the camp witnessed special classes on Military History, Environmental Awareness, Social Awareness and Adventure. Also special presentations on Ecology & Wildlife by Mr. Prakash Tripathi, Chief Wildlife Warden and on Pollution Control by Mr. Meren Imchen, Scientist ‘B’ of Nagaland Pollution Control Board were also conducted during the camp. The Camp came to a close on 29th July 2018 with a Camp Fire and Grand Dinner Party at the premises of LFHSS.
