Beat Plastic Pollution

On 29th May 2025, a group of 45 enthusiastic students and 5 dedicated mentors from Livingstone Foundation International actively participated in a powerful environmental initiative — The Himalayan Clean-Up 2025 — held at the State Stadium, Dimapur. The event was organized in collaboration with several environmental organizations, schools, and colleges, and focused on the urgent and globally relevant theme: “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic waste and to promote sustainable, eco-conscious living. As volunteers, the students engaged in a range of hands-on activities, including collecting litter around the stadium, sorting plastic waste, and encouraging the use of reusable alternatives. Equipped with gloves, eco-bags, and a strong sense of responsibility, they worked alongside environmentalists and mentors — showing deep commitment and teamwork in action.

But this initiative was about more than just cleaning — it was also about learning. Through direct involvement, the students gained valuable insight into the plastic pollution crisis, its environmental impact, and the role each person plays in building a cleaner world. They learned about waste segregation, recycling processes, and how small actions can create lasting change.

In the words of one student: “It’s so dirty everywhere — full of trash. We can’t just ignore it anymore. Our generation can’t afford to stay silent. The Earth needs us now more than ever.”
