In joining the rest of India and the world in eradicating the menace of Measles and Rubella Diseases, the Health Department, Dimapur under the MR Campaign of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and World Health Organisation (WHO) administered the Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination to more than 700 students of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School.
The Vaccination Program at LFHSS was actively supported by the School Management led by the School’s Director, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi who was very proactive in ensuring that all the students receive the vaccination. The Vaccination was carried out from 9:30 AM onwards at the New School Building for all the students from Prep-I to Grade-X during which the students were registered, administered the vaccines and then sent to the observation rooms where they were kept under observation for more than 30 Minutes for any side-effects. Earlier the students were made to submit Consent Forms duly signed by their parents for being administered with the vaccine. Also the students were sensitized by mentors about the MR Vaccination Campaign all over the world.
All together 3 Staff Members from the District Hospital Dimapur including a Doctor and 2 Nurses were deputed for the entire Vaccination Program along with the LFHSS Nurses Miss Holino and Miss Gyahule Seb. The School Nodal Officer for MR Vaccination, Mr. Zakir Hussain also supervised the entire proceedings of the Program. The Vaccination Programme got over at 1:00 PM without any side-effects or emergency cases. All together it was a great achievement for the School as well as the Medical Fraternity in the fight against Measles and Rubella Viruses and for the brighter prospect of better health for the children.
