TALK SHOW BY LIONS CLUB ON SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

Lions Club of Dimapur and Leo Club of Dimapur organized a talk show in Dimapur, Nagaland, as part of the Rohit Mehta Lions Quest Week on the 29th of August 2024. Held at Livingstone Foundation International, the event focused on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and was attended by students from grades VII to XI, along with mentors from Livingstone Foundation International. Renowned speakers led the discussion, including Miss Vangthunglo Murry, Life Coach from California; Miss Lozua Kape, Child Welfare Committee Member; Miss Rini Ghosh, Co-Founder & Director of Serendip Guardians and Miss Divya Sethi, Audiologist & Speech-Language Pathologist.

They covered various aspects of SEL, including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship skills. The speakers highlighted the importance of these skills for personal growth, effective communication, and responsible decision-making. They emphasized how SEL aids students in navigating school and social environments, using engaging videos and clips to illustrate these concepts.

The event discussed the need for Generation Z to enhance social skills and emotional connections due to their increased reliance on digital communication. Lion Dr. Neena Dutta, VDG II, Principal of St. Mary’s Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur, highlighted Lions Quest as a key SEL program. She explained that this comprehensive program helps individuals manage emotions, set goals, show empathy, build relationships, and make responsible decisions. The talk show effectively underscored SEL’s importance in promoting emotional resilience and well-rounded development.
