Start-Up India Yatra Nagaland 2019

With an aim to scout grass root level entrepreneurs in the smaller towns of India the Startup India Nagaland Yatra which was kicked off from Kohima on 18th February 2019 reached Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School in the form of a Van Stop on 21st February 2019. The students from Grades-IX, XI and XII participated in the Van Stop Exhibition on grass root entrepreneurs. The team was led by Mr. Amit Sharma who is the head of the Startup India Nagaland Yatra Team. He was accompanied by Mr. Kiyelu Yeptho, Inspector, DIC, Mr. Teizeung Zeliang, Inspector, DIC, Mr. Arun, Van Stop Manager and Mr. Yogesh, Technical Assistant.
The team was welcomed at the New School Campus and feliciated by the Chairman, Dr. Andrew Ahoto. The team members were introduced by the MC, Mr. Zakir Hussain. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Sharma said that during the week-long yatra, which will culminate on February 26, awareness would be created among the students and youths of 15 educational institutions in Kohima and Dimapur districts about sharing innovative ideas. According to him, StartUp India is a flagship initiative of the Centre, to build a strong eco-system for nurturing innovation and startups in the country that will drive sustainable economic growth and generate large scale employment opportunities. He also said that the startup policy would give a massive boost to the young innovative youths of the state towards taking up entrepreneurship instead of depending only on government jobs. Startup India in Nagaland will facilitate startups to access the various resources of the Startup Eco System available in the state. It will create an enabling environment to address the aspirations of youth and to engage with all stakeholders of Startup eco-system for strengthening the start-ups with appropriate incubation and mentoring infrastructure, to develop human capital, to provide fast track statutory support and network of appropriate funding agencies.
After the formal programme, the students were lined up and made to witness the videos and other visuals related with the programme inside the Van. Around 29 students also registered for innovative ideas for grass root level entrepreneurship.
The next day on 22nd February 2019, 10 students from Grade-XI along with 2 mentors were sent to NIT Chumukedima for attending the Boot Camp as part of the Startup India Nagaland Yatra where the main resource person, Mr. Amit Sharma gave a talk on grass root level entrepreneurship. During the course of the Boot Camp, 8 students also submitted their ideas on entrepreneurship to the resource person. The Boot Camp which began at 11:30 AM came to a close at around 3:30 PM. The students were accompanied by Mr. Hazarika and Mr. Tirus.
