GROUP DISCUSSION ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE  2022

As a part of their research on ‘Experience of one’s Menstrual Cycle’ which they are conducting in Nagaland, two research scholars from Germany, Freya and Muriel visited Livingstone Foundation International on 31st October 2022 during which they conducted a Group Discussion which was primarily aimed at collecting data for community analysis and project research.

All together six girls from Livingstone Foundation International and Cornerstone Hr. Sec. School participated in the group discussion which was held at the LFI School Library.

The group discussion was conducted across two sessions – the first being the ice-breaking session during which the participants were made to play a very interesting fruit game. During this session the two German research scholars also shared from their own life’s experiences back in Germany with illustrative display of photographs.

The participants then shared their opinion on various sanitary products and brands while mentioning their pros and cons. They also discussed about various sanitary kits like tampons and menstrual cups. They also shared their own experiences on their very first period and more.

The second session was mainly marked by discussions on research based questions where the participants responded to numerous queries. In between, some very interesting activities were also conducted like the Mood Scale activity, where the participants’ moods were rated and their feelings, thoughts and mood swings that they experienced in school were recorded.

Towards the end, the participants also got the opportunity to casually ask the research scholars about their first hand experience of Nagaland and the differences that they experienced in terms of the lifestyle of the people. The event culminated with free distribution of sanitary pads followed by photo session.
