LFI BICYCLE RALLY 2022

In keeping with the Stonites tradition of observing the World Environment Day and to generate public awareness on the urgent issue of environmental pollution and global warming, this year too, Livingstone Foundation International organized a Bicycle Rally on Environmental Awareness under the theme of ‘Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature’ on 8th June 2022. The Bicycle Rally which included around 36 cyclists from Grades-VI to XII students of LFI, started from the School Main Gate at Thahekhu and went up to City Tower Junction and Nyamo Lotha Road. It culminated at Dhobinala Junction.

The Bicycle Rally was flagged off by Mr. Temsunochet Changkija, NPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dimapur. Speaking on the occasion, as the Special Guest, Mr. Changkija was grateful to the school administration for organizing such a novel initiative in raising awareness and concern on pertinent global environmental issues among the public and students in particular. He expressed happiness that as a Police Officer it was motivating to witness the discipline of the LFI students. He also stressed on the importance of ‘Only One Earth’ which has been the theme of the World Environment Day under the initiative of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) since 1973.

The Chairman of Livingstone Foundation International, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema expressed gratitude to the Traffic Department for ensuring safer roads and for rendering their valuable time and resource for the success of the Bicycle Rally. He also expressed his wish that more people including students start using bicycles to commute as it would contribute in lowering the harmful effects of global warming and also improving their overall health. He was optimistic that this bicycle rally would go a long way in inculcating a positive mindset among the general public towards the menace of environmental pollution and the physical and mental health benefits of people.
