AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON ENERGY CONSERVATION 2025

A one-day Awareness Programme on Energy Conservation was conducted at Livingstone Foundation International on the 24th of January 2025. The programme which is an initiative of the Electrical Inspectorate, Government of Nagaland, was conducted at the LFI Auditorium by Cenergist Energy Pvt. Ltd. Kolkata. The Guest Speakers on the occasion included Ms. Amrita Choudhary, Manager-HR, Sustainability Service, CEPL, Mr. Jagrit Dutta, Energy Consultant, CEPL and Mr. Dibakar Dad Rairagi, Manager, Project Delivery, CEPL.

During the programme, the speakers highlighted the efforts of the Indian government to implement the Energy Conservation Act, 2021. This initiative promotes efficient energy usage across industries and households while encouraging the adoption of renewable energy sources, making it crucial for sustainable development. They also underscored that energy conservation is essential for reducing dependence on non-renewable resources, mitigating climate change, and ensuring that energy remains accessible and affordable for all. By conserving energy today, we pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future. This ensures that upcoming generations inherit a planet with a stable climate and an abundance of essential resources.

Practical strategies to save energy, such as turning off unnecessary lights, using energy-efficient appliances, and adopting eco-friendly practices at home and school, were shared. The focus was on incorporating small but impactful changes into daily routines. The importance of energy-efficient appliances was also emphasized by explaining how to read energy labels. Students learned to identify star ratings and understand how they reflect an appliance’s energy consumption and cost-effectiveness.

A detailed guide on power-saving tips was also provided, helping students grasp actionable methods to reduce wastage. From unplugging unused devices to managing heating and cooling systems efficiently, the guide offered numerous insights.

As part of the programme, an engaging energy conservation quiz was organized. This interactive activity helped reinforce the day’s lessons while offering students an opportunity to test their knowledge. Exciting prizes were distributed to the winners, adding enthusiasm and energy to the event. The program was an enriching experience, providing invaluable insights into the significance of energy conservation and practical ways to achieve it. The students left with a better understanding of how small, consistent efforts can contribute to a sustainable and energy-efficient future.
