ANCSU COLLEGIATE MEET 2024
The ultimate college extravaganza – the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet 2024 got underway at Livingstone Foundation International on the 29th of October 2024 under the theme ‘Enabling Potentialities’. The introductory session which was held at the LFI Green Lawn from 6:00 PM onward was graced by a host of dignitaries including Mr. Alemtemshi Jamir, IAS (Retd), former Chief Secretary of Nagaland as the Introductory Guest and Mr. Hokato Hotozhe Sema, Bronze Medallist of the Paris Paralympics 2024 from Nagaland as the Honoured Guest. The event saw participation from 35 colleges across Nagaland out of the 39 affiliated with ANCSU, along with support from 21 collaborating partners. The event witnessed some exciting events including the Naga Wrestling Competition, Beat Contest, Knowledge Hub, Chess Championship and many other games and sporting events.
The second day of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Collegiate Meet 2024 began with the Inaugural Session of the meet graced by Shri Abu Metha, Hon’ble Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Chairman, IDAN, Government of Nagaland as the Inaugural Guest. He was accompanied by an entourage of important dignitaries including the Chairmen of various Public Sector Undertakings. Some of the key highlights of the inaugural session included the Keynote Address by Mr. Tsukjem Lkr, Convenor of the Organizing Committee, Presidential Address by Mr. Tenyesinlo Bukh, President, ANCSU, Greetings by Chairman of LFI, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema and President, NSF, Mr. Medovi Rhi, special presentations by Arms Incorporation and Akokla Langu, Winner of ANCSU Virtual Solo Singing Competition 2021 and Administration of Oath by Mr. Duve Tetse-o, Games & Sports Secretary, ANCSU.
In a first of its kind event in the history of ANCSU Meets, the 3rd Day of the meet held on 31st October 2024 witnessed the Inter-College Naga Wrestling Competition. The event was graced by Dr. Bidyut Bikash Bhuyan, Managing Director, Arunima Group as the Special Guest and Mr. Vivolie Kezo, President of Naga Wrestling Association as the Honoured Guest. The event was conducted under the aegis of the Naga Wrestling Association. On the sidelines of the meet, a separate Knowledge Hub was also organized including Startup-Get a Head Start, Career Connect and Empowerment through Knowledge.
The evening of the 3rd Day turned out to be an electrifying one as the much anticipated and the most wooed after ANCSU Beat Contest unfolded with 7 colleges from across Nagaland vying for one of the most prestigious titles in the state. The ANCSU Beat Contest is a biennial event and is conducted in order to encourage and promote the young talents from various colleges of Nagaland. The Beat Contest was graced by Shri Neibalie Rio, Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Nagaland. The panel of judges included Clement Imsong, Vocalist of Lords of Rock Band, Yangkum Jinger, current drummer of Incipit Band, Mankon Konyak, Lead Guitarist of the band EXI-CHICKEN HEAD and renowned Bassist, Jungshi Aier.
During the battle of the bands, the colleges belted out Bon Jovi’s popular number ‘You give love a bad name’ along with a number of their own choice. After a very exciting and mind boggling performance by all the bands, the title of the Best Band was awarded to the energetic band from Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung while the Runners Up title was bagged by the band from Sazolie College, Kohima who also won the Best Vocals and Best Drummer titles. Patkai Christian College, Chumoukedima won the Best Bass Guitarist and Best Keyboardist titles while the titles for the Best Lead Guitarist and the Best Rhythm Guitarist went to Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and Livingstone Foundation International College, Dimapur respectively. The bombastic event concluded with the summing up performance by DJ Rhon which kept the crowd asking for more.
The fourth day began with the third and the final part of the Knowledge Hub event of the Collegiate Meet which was held in the morning and was graced by Mr. Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Nagaland. A talk on HIV/AIDS awareness was also delivered during the programme by Dr. Hotoka Hesso, S.MO, Art Plus Centre, District Hospital Dimapur. Ms. Imtisangla, COFU, IDAN also walked the audience through the various facets of Financial Literacy. Other highlights of the programme included the result of the Hackathon and prize distribution by Startup Nagaland and special song by students of Immanuel College, Dimapur.
The ANCSU Collegiate Meet 2024 formally closed with the Valedictory Function which was graced by Shri S. Supongmeren Jamir, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Government of India as the Valedictory Guest and Shri Kethosituo Sekhose, NCS, Director, Youth Resources & Sports, GoN as the Honoured Guest of the occasion. The important highlights of the programme included greetings by the Honoured Guest, Special Number by Kohima College, Speech by the Valedictory Guest, Special Presentation by Kito K. Swu, Prize Distribution and Words of Gratitude by Mr. Inato Y. Chisho, Co-Convenor, Organizing Committee. The evening at the LFI Green Lawn turned into a saga of resplendence and fervor with the Collegiate Night with the dynamic Chief Host, Shri Temjen Imna Along, Hon’ble Minister, Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland. The event was made all the more memorable and vibrant with the presence of Dr. Hiteswar Baruah, Managing Director, NEMCARE Hospital, Guwahati and a host of other dignitaries including the Chairman of LFI, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, Director of LFI, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi and Mrs. Tafi Snock, State Secretary, BJP. Before the stage was opened for the informal DJ Night, a formal greeting was delivered by the Honoured Guest followed by a short greeting by Mrs. Ani Yepthomi, Director LFI. Earlier the welcome note was said by Mr. Kivika Yeptho, Information & Publicity Secretary, ANCSU. The formal session ended with a wholesome and thought evoking speech by the Chief Host followed by the much anticipated DJ Night session where the students and invitees grooved to some very popular beats and numbers.
