CONSULTATIVE WORKSHOP ON LEARNING DISABILITIES 2024
A one-day Consultative Workshop on Learning Disabilities was held at Livingstone Foundation International on the 14th of June 2024 under the theme ‘Do You See Me’. The workshop was jointly organized by Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-being and the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Nagaland in collaboration with Livingstone Foundation Society and Breeze Women Welfare Association (BWWA).
The workshop was moderated by renowned social activist, Ms. Vitono Haralu (Gugu) as the Chairperson and began with an Invocation Prayer by Mrs. Ilito Toluho, Sunday School Counsellor of Lhomithi Baptist Church, Dimapur. The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. Lovitoli Awomi, Chairman of Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-being which was followed by a short message from Ms. Ashe Kiba on behalf of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Nagaland.
The other key highlights of the workshop included a discourse entitled ‘Learning Disabilities in Psychological Perspective’ by Rev. Dr. Fr. Joe Mariadhas, Director, Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Chumoukedima, a talk on ‘Specific Learning Disabilities’ by Dr. Y. Simpson, HoD, Department of Paediatrics, CHISR, words of encouragement from Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, Chairman, Livingstone Foundation International, ‘Role of Special Educators’ by Mrs. Kopele Tepa, Special Educator & Headmistress of Bumblebee Inclusive School, Kohima and experience sharing by parents of children with learning disabilities by Mr. N. Achiba Ozukum followed by Discussion Hour and benediction by Ms. Emilo Ngullie, Christian Education Director, Police Baptist Church, Dimapur.
