ANTI-DRUGS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT TETSO COLLEGE 2023
Dressed in traditional attires, students of Livingstone Foundation International performed a rhythmic and soulful group number at Tetso College, Chumoukedima on 17th November 2023. The occasion was an Anti-Drug Awarness Campaign Programme which was organized by the Assam Rifles.
Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest the Commander of 6 Sector, Assam Rifles, Brigadier Shiva Kant Shukla underscored the pivotal role of education in the efforts to eradicate drug abuse. He said it was only through awareness and understanding that the individuals are empowered to make informed choices and resist the lure of substances that could lead to devastating consequences. He then urged educational institutions, community organizations and citizens to undertake comprehensive drug education programs, ensuring the youth were equipped with the knowledge and resilience to make healthy choices.
The Special Guest on the occasion, Miss Nagaland 2022, Miss Hikali Achumi said that the usage of drugs by the youngsters were more prevailing compared to past decades due to influence of social media. She called for collaborative action from every right-thinking citizen towards fighting the menace and urged the students to refrain from such indulgence as they are the “future of the Nagas”. She also highlighted the gathering in detail about drug abuse and its consequences on human lives.
Apart from the melodious performance put up by LFI, the other highlights of the event included a Group Song by Tetso College, Movie Screening, Sumi Traditional Dance by Patkai Christian College, Dance on ‘Seven Sisters’ by Nagaland University, Band Performance by ‘Rhino Jazz Band’ of Assam Rifles and speeches by Mr. S. Jalipu from NGBF and by Mr. Meren T. Jamir.
