LFI INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2023
With an aim to relegate leadership duties on the students, the Annual LFI Investiture Ceremony for the LFI Students’ Council was held at the LFI Basketball Court on the 24th of June 2023. This year, the ceremony was made all the more eventful with the presence and participation of the parents and guardians of the Students’ Council Leaders.
The ceremony, which was led by Mr. Vernon Fernandez as the MC, was led in prayer by Ms. Viravono Chase which was followed by the hoisting of school flag by Mr. Acato Chishi, one of the parents. This was followed suit by the ceremonial lighting of torch by the Director, LFI, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi.
During her welcome address, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi exhorted the gathering, especially the parents, mentors and the newly elected leaders. While congratulating the new batch of leaders, she enumerated the responsibilities that the school would like them to assume as future leaders of the nation. She called upon them to be exemplary in behavior and to work with utmost sincerity and create a culture of compassion and reverence while also be vigilant to every activity that takes place in the school. She further challenged them to rise above their self-interest so that people around them can experience their integrity.
She also thanked the parents and guardians for being the children’s role model and for encouraging them. She asked them to be more supportive towards their children and to be receptive of their children’s suggestions, appreciation and approaches towards the school inorder to get the best outcome from the children. She closed her discourse by thanking all the mentors for successfully conducting the Students’ Council Election and for always endeavoring to encourage each one of the candidates.
An integral part of the investiture ceremony was the oath taking by the leaders which was administered by the Director, LFI, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi. This was followed by pinning of the leaders’ badges by respective parents and guardians of the elected leaders. Like other years, this year too, the School Boys & Girls Captains , Captains & Vice Captains of the Four Houses, Monitors & Asst. Monitors of various grades and Prefects & Sub-Prefects of various hostel dormitories have donned the mantle of responsibilities and were relegated their duties during the investiture ceremony. Mr. Henjoy Ham of Grade-XII Arts belonging to Matthew House has been elected this year’s School Captain (Boys) while Miss Anna Zimo of Grade-XII Arts belonging to Luke House has been elected as the School Captain (Girls).
The programme was made even more enlightening with the presentation of awards to winners of the Deendayal Upadhyaya Postal Quiz Competition whereby out of 5 students selected from North East India, two students, viz. Miss Tanishka Jain and Mr. Edwin Khobung both of Grade-VII have won scholarships. 5 other students, who have also won in the School Level were also felicitated during the occasion. The National Toppers in the Bloom School Olympiad, viz. Miss Ruangriu R. Panmei, 2nd Rank in English Olympiad, Master Keith T. Synrem, 7th Rank in English Olympiad and Miss Aotila, 9th rank in English Olympiad were also felicitated during the investiture ceremony.
The other highlights of the ceremony included an inspiring song entitled ‘Stand Strong’ by the LFI Girl Boarders and a special number by Mr. Kakupu of Grade-XII Science. The ceremony wound up on a solemn note with the vote of thanks which was proposed by Dr. Martha Mpom, parent.
