CAREER COUNSELLING CUM PEP TALK BY SHRI ROBIN HIBU IPS  2022

The founder and President of Helping Hands India, Shri Robin Hibu IPS, Special Commissioner & ADGP of Delhi Police came on a two-day special trip to Nagaland from 22nd to 23rd October 2022. Soon after landing at Dimapur on 22nd October 2022, he conducted a career seminar cum pep talk for college students of Dimapur and adjoining areas at Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur.

During the programme, Shri Robin Hibu and his wife, Dr. Gampi Padu Hibu and an established entrepreneur from South India, Mr. Sunil Chabbra, were welcomed and felicitated by Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, President of Helping Hands Nagaland and Chairman of Livingstone Foundation International. Addressing the gathering, consisting mostly of college students, Shri Robin Hibu encouraged them through his own life story wherein he had struggled a lot to reach his present position and to become the first IAS officer from Arunachal Pradesh despite being from a marginal family. He challenged the students to sacrifice their comfortable life and social obligations and aim for the best career for a more fulfilling life. According to him if one aspires to become someone in life one must be ready to put in hard work and not be deterred by the deprivations that one is faced with.

He went on to motivate the students not to follow the crowd but to make a mark in a career of their choice. He highlighted about the multifarious career options like fashion designing, IT industry, education, horticulture, entrepreneurship and many more which should become the focus of the modern generation instead of going for traditional career options like medicine, engineering and the civil services which according to him has become a national hobby of the Indian students. He also divulged that Helping Hands Nagaland will become the nodal centre for ALS Scholarship Examinations through which the students can get lucrative scholarships to pursue their dreams of becoming a Civil Servant. Earlier, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema briefed the gathering about Helping Hands as a humanitarian organization which has been working for the welfare of the down-trodden and needy people especially belonging to the North Eastern Region of India. He mentioned that Helping Hands is a charitable non-profit non-government organization in India. The core principles at Helping Hands include shared vision and goals, collaboration and sharing, mutual respect and joint investment of efforts in the overall goal of uplifting and empowering the under-privileged. Helping Hands was born through the joint efforts of like-minded Samaritans from different professional walks of life on the 3rd of July, 2016. Ever since the team has been working together to uplift the underprivileged section of the society, especially the people of North East in multiple ways – from humanitarian and charitable services to legal advice and career counseling. He also called upon the students to be an integral part of this noble endeavour and to aspire to inspire before one expires.
