INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2022

Livingstone Foundation International in collaboration with Livingstone Foundation Society, Breeze Women Welfare Association and Community Health Initiative, Nagaland organized a Marathon Run to commemorate the observance of the International Day of the Girl Child on 12th October 2022.

The Commemorative Marathon Run which was undertaken to create awareness about the importance of gender equity and women empowerment was flagged off at 6:30 AM from the school campus of Livingstone Foundation International and the participants undertook the run up to Nagaland Zoological Park via Thahekhu Village and back.

Earlier before the flagging off, a brief programme was held which was attended by Director, LFI, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi and Ms. Loreni Sophia, Director, Community Health Initiative Nagaland. The invocation prayer was pronounced by Ms. Medozhanuo Tepa, Chaplain, LFI while the significance of the day was related by Ms. Manshvi Rathore of Grade-XII during which she declared that the marathon would be flagged off by the Grade-IV workers, especially the custodians and janitors of the school, which in itself was a unique gesture of kindness and honour for those who sacrifice their comforts for the good life and health of all.

On behalf of the custodians and janitors, the Housekeeping in-charge, Ms. Zubeni Odyuo flagged off the marathon which was attended by students, mentors, staff and members of LFI, BWWA and CHI. The participants also included some foreign medical students who are on an educational tour to Nagaland especially to learn more about menstrual hygiene among the rural womenfolk of the state.
