A team from the first Community Radio Station in Dimapur, 90.8 Hills FM led by its Managing Director, Ms. Imali Hesso made a promotional visit to Livingstone Foundation International on 13th September 2022. The other members of the team included the Programme Manager, Mr. Ketho Sakhrie and RJ Yogen Chettri among others. Ms. Imali happens to be an alumna of LFI and it is the first time that the team had done a promotional visit to any educational institution after their formal launch on 8th September 2022 at Hotel Sente, Dimapur.

Addressing the students and mentors at the LFI Auditorium, Ms. Imali Hesso introduced her team members and related the necessity and importance of reviving the listening culture among the people under the tagline ‘Bringing Back the Listening Culture’. According to her, unlike All India Radio and other main stream radio channels, 90.8 Hills FM was a community radio channel which was focussed on educating, informing and creating awareness on a host of issues like women empowerment, mental health awareness, disability, etc. besides being a platform for book and music reviews, local music performances and panel discussions. Apart from all these, the channel also aims to give a unique platform for young minds in weaving and having their stories narrated through a programme entitled ‘Stories by the Fire’. She requested the student community to be an integral part of the community radio and contribute towards its positive campaign of community empowerment and development.

Earlier, the visitors were felicitated by the Chairman of LFI, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema and the Director, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi. In his welcome address, Dr. Andrew Ahoto expressed immense happiness at the launch of an FM channel with a difference and hoped that it will bring about definitive transformation in the society through their community approach. He also highlighted in brief about the numerous skill sets of the students and how they can use their listening skills to their advantage and encouraged them to be a part of the 90.8 Hills FM initiatives.
