NCC GIRL CADETS FROM LFI PARTICIPATES IN CATC AT NIT CHUMUKEDIMA

A total of 20 NCC Girl Cadets from Livingstone Foundation International participated in the NCC Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) from 9th to 13th February 2022 which was conducted at NIT Campus, Chumukedima. The camp was conducted as a day camp which included both Junior Wing as well as Senior Wing Cadets. It was conducted mainly to instill courage and discipline in the cadets and transform them into stronger, self-disciplined and empowered girls.

On the first day of the camp, the cadets were divided into syndicates. Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Chief Guest, Brig. Praveen Sangwan, Group Commander of NCC, Nagaland mentioned that discipline is the core and source which can help a person to succeed in life. He encouraged the cadets to be disciplined and to continue in their duties as NCC Cadets. He also exhorted the cadets to make the best out of the CATC where they will be learning various essences of drill, armed drill, weapons training and map reading. 

The following day, Mrs. Mariana, who has appeared SSB six times and got mentioned on the merit list 4 times arrived in the camp and shared with the cadets about her life’s experiences. She emphasized on the need to be extroverted and to be oneself. She also encouraged the cadets to start working for one’s goals right from the earnest before it is too late. Following this, the cadets engaged themselves in group discussions on various topics such as women empowerment and water management. They also had a thrilling and exciting session on rifle firing wherein each cadet was given 15 rounds to fire and among them, Ms. Illo from LFI along with other cadets were declared as the best firers.

The other highlights of the camp included fire fighting drill by the Fire Department, Map Reading, Battle Crafts, Drills and Weapon Display apart from the conduct of B-Certificate Examination on the last day of the camp. During the Closing ceremony the Camp Commandant, Col. Abdul Hameed Khan spoke on the importance of NCC in providing career options and discipline in our lives. The camp concluded with distribution of certificates and medals for various events.
