International Yoga Day – Online Yoga Session

This year’s International Yoga Day was celebrated differently at LFI on the 21st of June’21. The school partook in an Online Yoga session via Zoom which was organised by the NCC department for the NCC Cadets and the Mentors of the School. The Online event was attended by a total of 68 students and Mentors. The session began with a prayer by Mr P. Mandal and a welcome address by the chairman Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema, who welcomed all the attendees and signified the importance of Yoga for a healthy mind and body expressing how Yoga Day and World Music Day provides an in-depth feeling syncing our minds and souls for a peaceful heart, thus, every individual should dedicate themselves to medicate. He also emphasized that Yoga was not a religion rather it is a way of life which can be adapted by any individual irrespective of the difference in faith and belief.


Mr Shiva Baidya headed the event as Yoga instructor, who is also a Mentor and an ANO of 24 Nagaland (I) COY NCC. The session took part in performing Asanas such as Trikonasana, Bhaujangasana, Sukhasana, Tadasana, Shalabhasana and Shavasana. The importance and instructions for the Asanas were given by Miss Rishita Deka of Grade XII Sc, Miss Chokjenchila T Jamir of Grade XII Sc, Miss Manshivi Rathore of Grade XI Arts, Miss Ilokali Ayemi of Grade XII A Arts and Miss Renemenla of Grade XII Sc. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Manish Singh Gurung. LFI is elated and grateful to have successfully celebrated International Yoga Day despite the challenges of lockdown and thus wishes good health and safety upon all.
