Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) on Mushroom Cultivation

A two-day training entitled Skill Training of Rural Youth on Mushroom Cultivation was organized by IETC, Medziphema at SAMETI Training Hall, Medziphema Town on 11th & 12th December 2020. Livingstone Foundation International was represented at the training by Mr. Menolhousie, Mentor and Mr. Vikibeto A. Kinimi of Grade-XII Science, Mr. Rumen Pongener.


On the first day, the inaugural programme which began at 11:30 AM was led by Mr. Kikatemjen, Agri Officer, IETC as the Chairperson while the Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Watimongla Jamir, Principal, IETC & Director, SAMETI.


The programme ended with Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Seyievielo Sono, Lecturer, IETC. During the Technical Session-I, Mr. Kikatemjen, Agri Officer, IETC, presented the Introduction and Practices on Mushroom during which he used some videos to explain about practicality of mushroom cultivation and also the participants were taught how to cut straws and soaking.
The second day began with the next Technical Session on Mushroom Cultivation and Wrap-up by the previous day speaker. During this session, the participants learned about sterilization of straws and packing of mushrooms.


This was followed by Valedictory Programme during which Ms. Lenti Aier spoke on behalf of the trainees followed by distribution of certificates by Dr. Watimongla Jamir and Ms. Odangmenla, Lecturer, IETC who also proposed the Vote of Thanks at the end of the programme.
