Livingstone Foundation International observed the World No Tobacco Day 2019 along with the rest of the world on 31st May 2019 under the theme ‘The sooner you smoke, the sooner you croak!’.
As part of the observance, the school carried out numerous programmes and activities throughout the day. The observation of this year’s World No Tobacco Day began with a special programme during the School’s Morning Assembly at both the Senior as well as the Junior High sections of the school.
At the Senior School Section, during the Morning Assembly short speeches on the ill-effects of tobacco and the values related with the observance of the World No Tobacco Day were delivered by both the students as well as the mentors. The Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. Zakir Hussain, Coordinator who also highlighted the current statistics of tobacco use in Nagaland. A talk stressing on the Ill-effects of Tobacco was presented by Miss Imsurenla Jamir of Grade-XII Sc. Mr. Vilo P. Yepthomi of Grade-XII Arts presented a speech on ‘Smoke-free environment’ wherein he stated that a single change can make a big difference. Mr. Prabhat Mandal, Academic Principal proposed the Vote of Thanks as a solemn close to the programme. A painting competition for students of Grades-IX to XII was also conducted on the occasion.
At the Junior High Campus, Miss Azatoli Rotokha presented the significance of World No Tobacco Day during the Morning Assembly.  The students from Grades-I to V led by the mentors took out a short procession to the Senior Block carrying placards with meaningful messages on the awareness of the menace of tobacco. After the Morning Assembly, there was an orientation session conducted at the LFI Auditorium which was led by the School Counselor, Ms. Supongbenla Longkumer. The students and mentors also put up display boards containing slogans and messages.
