4TH INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA 2018

 

Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School observed the 4th International Day of Yoga along with the rest of the world on 21st June 2018 at its Green Lawns. This year’s Yoga Day Programme was organized by the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School with logistical support from 24 NL (I) Coy NCC, Kohima and 1 Naga Girls Battalion NCC, Kohima. All together 1237 students including NCC Cadets from 9 Schools and 4 Colleges of Dimapur participated in the Yoga Day Programme.
 
The Yoga Day programme started at 6.30 AM with the welcome speech delivered by Mr. Andrew Ahoto, Chairman of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School who encouraged the gathering about the multifarious benefits of Yoga exercises. He also advised the gathering not to attach any religion with Yoga as it was something related with the benefits of health and well-being. Earlier the invocation prayer was said by Mr. Prabhat Mandal, Head of Academics, LFHSS. 
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Director (Admin) of NEZCC, Mr. D. Vashum gave some enlightening inputs and values of Yoga as a mental and physical exercise which enriches the soul. He also highlighted the significance of the day and divulged in detail how the International Day of Yoga became a world-wide affair from 2015 onwards under the initiative of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi.
 
The Yoga Session on the occasion was led by renowned Yoga Guru from Nagaland and a National Bronze Medalist, Miss Orentsani Suzane who imparted some Yoga Asanas (Yoga Steps) including the Surya Namaskar or Sun Obeisance.
 
The important officials and dignitaries who were present on the occasion included, Mr. Senti Ao, Deputy Director (P), NEZCC, Mr. Oliver, Prog. Officer, NEZCC, Mr. Yashi Ao, Asst. Prog. Officer, NEZCC, Mrs. Ani Yepthomi, Director Jr. High, LFHSS and other officials from NEZCC and LFHSS. The schools and colleges from Dimapur which took part in the event included Bethesda Hr. Sec. School, St. Paul Hr. Sec. School, Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School, Christian Hr. Sec. School, Eden Hr. Sec. School, Pilgrim Hr. Sec. School, Delhi Public School, Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Greenwood Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur Govt. College, Patkai Christian College, Unity College and Eastern Christian College.
